Training the new Front Lines on the Post 9/11 GI Bill

Legislative Dispatches Unlike most of the work we do here at IAVA, I have spent the past couple of months training a new cadre of front line aides who will assist in the implementation of the Post 9/11 GI bill. These new GI Bill experts are financial aid administrators at schools across the country, many of whom are a veteran’s only source of information on available education benefits.

Filner Re-elected Chair of House Vets Committee

Legislative Dispatches House Veterans Affairs Committee will keep its chair in the 111th Congress Washington, D.C. - Today, the Democratic Caucus voted to re-elect Congressman Bob Filner as Chair of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs.  Filner will serve his second term as Chairman in the upcoming 111th Congress, which begins on January 6, 2009. Filner commented: "I am grateful to my Democratic colleagues for supporting me as Chair of the Veterans' Affairs Committee.  It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve our nation's veterans and I appreciate the support of the Caucus.
